Decisions made

Recently, Christopher and I had to make a difficult decision. Our plan for the year has always been to get married and then we would move to San Francisco to peruse other experiences. Then, Christopher was offered his job for another year. We thought it would be a no brainer, but in the past few months both of us have noticed a change. The idea of relocating just to relocate didn’t seem so exciting anymore. So after a few hard conversations, we decided to stay in Kalamazoo for another year. This decision was so difficult to make. I am pretty sure either way wouldn’t make us 100% happy. But our thinking was that we both don’t know what we really want anymore in a long term sense. With this extra year we won’t have to worry about planning a wedding, we can just try to decide what we really want NOW instead of holding on to something we use to want when we were in college. We are trying to focus on what will make us happy in a career and lifestyle and not to just to go to SF because it was a college dream. Who knows! Maybe that really is the place for us or maybe it’s Chicago or NYC or maybe GR. Either way, we are going to go into this next year with our eyes wide open to new experiences. We are planning on doing some traveling to see what’s out there in our country and to also make some short term goals to accomplish as well as try to make a 5-year plan of sorts. After the wedding and honeymoon, I will be seriously looking into getting a new job. Maybe in GR or the surrounding area (now that I have a car that runs well). I want to practice graphic design FOR REAL. So that will be my new BIG project after I’m a MRS :) It was so hard to decide what to do. It’s even more difficult to tell people that we’ve changed our minds, AGAIN. Christopher’s parents and my mom are over the moon excited (of course). What’s best for us now has been such a hard thing to decide, but we couldn’t ignore that fact that we both don’t know what we want anymore and the best thing for now is to try to decide what that is.
