Choosing our wedding cake was very easy to do. We ordered our cake from a Dutch bakery in the Kalamazoo area called Boonzaaijar Bakery, a local favorite to be sure. You can’t get much better than their buttercream. We had lemon filling on the top and bottom tier and strawberry filling in the middle tier. We kept the design rather simple but with some graphic shapes. The only thing I think I would change about the cake if I could do it again wouldn’t be the cake, but the display around the cake. Looking at it now, it looks a little plain and some flowers would have helped to bring some more life to the table. Oh well, I suppose no wedding is perfect, right?

I LOVE our cake topper! A friend of Christopher’s family who teaches art made them herself. So much care went into the construction. Christopher’s dad painted them by hand too. They are such cute little souvenirs. Christopher is represented as a grizzly bear and I am represented as a fox. We had decided that these were our spirit animals a very long time ago and that they would make perfect wedding cake toppers when the time came.

Clearly we didn’t ‘play nice’. It was WAY more fun to shove cake in each others faces.
