I know fall officially starts near the end of September but it feels like it really starts at the very beginning of September. Yesterday was the first day back for local schools and colleges and you could really feel it in the air. The evidence was also present on facebook with all of the ‘first day of school’ photos being shared. When I was growing up, I loved school. I specifically loved the beginning of the year, it always felt like anything could happen. I miss that feeling sometimes. However, I do not miss having to deal with the millions of hours of homework and very very late nights that I would wind up with about a month into the school year. I remember always having a lot on my plate back when I was in high school. I was so enthusiastic about joining as many clubs, groups, and teams as my schedule would allow. To this day, being active in my community is important to me, now more than ever before. A goal of mine is to reach out more to other community members in a more personal way. Now that I thought about this more, I guess this time of year still inspires me to set new goals for myself and consider all of the possibilities.

I took these photos at East Hall the other day. Nothing reminds me of the beauty of school quite like this place does. Dressing in a striped shirt and pleated khaki pants sure helps too!

I know what you mean. The other day I had the urge to do some back to school clothes shopping. Took me a minute to realize I’ve been out of school for 5 years. I’d love to hear more about how you are getting involved in the community. It’s on my list too.
